Project examples
Network model of US eastern gas grid
For a major US LNG developer, developed a methodology to estimate the ultimate upstream supply sources for gas flowing at each point on the eastern US gas grid. Translated opaque pipeline tariff information into a nodal structure, then developed algorithms to join this schematic representation with scheduled quantity data to generate an estimate of throughput and the supply mix at each point. Leveraged client’s purchasing data to make comparable estimates for the supply mix on intrastate systems. Generated “pathways” of ultimate upstream supply sources and compressor stations traversed so that client could refine its estimate of emissions intensity.
Texas & Louisiana gas flow model
Developed pipeline scrapes, pipeline corridor capacity estimates, demand models, and linear optimization to forecast future pipeline flows and basis differentials in Texas and Louisiana. Built repeatable systems and queries to streamline automation and usability, facilitating research subscriptions and many consulting projects.
Weekly US LNG report development
For a US research provider, developed and launched a weekly US LNG market report. Report synthesized waterborne flows, pipeline capacity positions, pipeline scrapes, price movements, and market news in a comprehensive and easy-to-read package.
Various pipeline market studies
Various projects analyzing regional gas flows as part of transaction due-diligence processes or project development screening opportunities. Regions analyzed include the Northeast, the Southeast, south Texas, east Texas, and others.
